Over the last six years, INDICT has collected evidence of serious crimes committed by senior members of the Iraqi regime, from witnesses in fifteen different countries.

Witness statements are prepared in accordance with the formal requirements of the law of England and Wales, which has some of the strictest rules of evidence in the world. Before statements are finally signed, witnesses are made aware that they may face prosecution if they say anything in it which they know to be untrue.

A sample of quotations from witness statements can be found below, implicating individual members of the regime in personally carrying out a range of very serious offences, including mass murder and torture. The names of witnesses, and details that could identify them, have been withheld.
