 | War Crimes
- Reportedly involved in the brutal
repression of the Uprising which followed the Gulf War in 1991 including mass
executions, torture and wanton destruction, particularly in Baghdad suburbs
of Thawra, Shu'la, Hurriya' Bayya', the village of Yousiffiya and the nearby
districts of Mahmoudiya.
Crimes Against Humanity
- Responsible
for repression of religious and ethnic minorities including forced deportation,
disappearances and murder committed by forces under his control whilst acting
as Minister of Interior.
- As a member of the National Security
Council he bears command responsibility for all crimes committed under the
authority or acquiescence of that body.
Torture
- Permitted and
encouraged the systematic use of torture, including rape and the threat of rape,
by forces under his control whilst acting as Minister of Interior.
